1989
In 1989 further land was purchased under conveyance and trust deed for £2000 from Herbert Pickford. Signed by trustees Leslie Carey, Don Crotty and Anthony Hughes. Planning application (N/89/01267/FUL) made 4 May 1989 for the change of use of agricultural land to provide a car parking area. Approved 20 September 1989.
There is a covenant within the deed stating no building other than an extension can be built during the lives of Herbert, his wife, daughter Jane (or survivors). A Deed of Variation is required from Jane to sell the land. The land was vested to the Charity Commission in 1989. (‘Vesting’ means that the committee at the time of any legal changes that requires signing documents can be dealt with by the committee at that time of the changes and not the parties who had previously signed the original – this passes on ownership.)
1993
Planning application (N/93/01415/FUL) was submitted on 9 August 1993 to build an extension to provide toilet facilities plus make some internal alterations to the hall – this was approved on 30 September1993. Funds for this project were £7000 donated by Martin White, £7000 from the Parish Council plus small grants with the balance funded by individual donations and village fundraising activities.
1994
In 1994 a letter was received from Wiltshire County Council referring to an ‘encroachment’ of the highway to the front of the village hall; whereby part of the highway has been taken into the frontage of the village hall car parking area. There is a plan clearly showing that nearly half of the front parking area is council highway - over the years stone chippings to the front have spread to line up in a straight line from the North and South boundaries of the village hall plot. This should be noted should the land ever be sold – or, indeed, should holes appear - the maintenance & repair is Council's responsibility!
1995
Planning application (N/ documents - /01161/FUL) made 15 June 1995 to build an annex to the hall as an equipment store; this was approved on 18 July 1995.
