CHRISTIAN MALFORD VILLAGE HALL – PART 3

Writer's picture: Nigel FairleyNigel Fairley

1960

On 8 September 1960 the conveyance of 1928 was declared ‘wholly void’ as it did not detail the correct land and a new conveyance/trust deed was drafted and completed for the sale of the land (presumably, the original land gifted in 1928 plus the additional land purchased in 1946/48). Herbert Pickford (inherited the land from his father Walter Pickford who died in 1958) sold the land for £1 to two trustees: Reverend Canon William Henry Barkwell and Herbert Pickford. The land was referred to as 75-foot frontage, 35-foot southern boundary and 102-foot rear.

The Trust Deed Section of the conveyance (Governance Document) details the structure of the members/trustees of the hall committee; how they are appointed, what they can and cannot do, and what they need to do for any major changes. The Committee was to be made up of 15 members:

Owner of Thorn End Farm Parish Reverend 2 from the Parochial Church Council

2 from the Parish Council 2 from the WI 2 from the Youth Club

A maximum of 5 General Members.

1964

Christian Malford Village Hall was registered with the Charity Commissioners on 6 May 1964 (Charity No: 305491).
